Agronomic performance of purple crisp lettuce cultivars in Central Amazonia
Abstract
Several environmental factors, such as high temperatures and high rainfall, affect the growth and development of lettuce. Thus, it is necessary to carry out tests of cultivars to verify the adaptation to different cultivation environments. This work aimed to evaluate the performance of purple crisp lettuce cultivars in open field, during the dry and rainy seasons, in Central Amazonia. The experimental design adopted was a randomized blocks, with four replications, and the treatments consisting of eleven cultivars: Banchu Red Fire, Belíssima, Lavine, Mirella, Pira Roxa, Red Star, Rosabela, Rubia, Rubinela, Scarlet and Vermelha Rouge. It was concluded that, during the rainy season, plant development was severely impaired due to the incidence of Rhizoctonia solani. The cultivars Banchu Red Fire, Rosabela and Scarlet presented the best growth parameters and agronomic performance, during the dry season, showing adaptability in the region and can be indicated for cultivation in climatic conditions similar to those of Central Amazonia.
